My Birthday Present

Having a January birthday, I sometimes have been known to complain that I get all my presents in a month and then I have to suffer through the rest of the year. This past birthday, my Mom surprised me and gave me tickets to go see The Jersey Boys at the Fox Theatre. Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The date was Saturday June 20th! So this past Saturday, Dan and I set out for a pre theatre meal and then headed over to The Fabulous Fox Theatre. We went to The Livingston, a restaurant in the Georgian Terrace Hotel. Dan and I did not know much about it but it looked pretty and was right across the street from The Fox. We spent a few hours at the bar and were extremely impressed, service was friendly, food was well cooked, and the atmosphere was open, modern, yet comfortable. Here are some pictures.

Off to see the show, it was excellent! The performance caused such high energy in the theatre and it just made you smile. Dan and I had such a good time. Thanks Mom for the mid year birthday present! I appreciate it, love, and miss you.

Happy 1st Birthday Kate Hettinger

We are sending our love to Rochester Minnesota today as Katherine Miller Hettinger (Kate), is celebrating her 1st birthday! Kate has a special birthday as she shares the date with my late Grandmother so I know special people are born on this day. I had the opportunity to visit Chris, Allison, and Kate this past October and we had a wonderful visit. I was lucky to meet Allison at UT where we had a lot of fun times and we continue to enjoy time together. Kate is a joy and we wish her a happy celebration today with family and friends! Here is a picture of Kate last month wearing my favorite color.

Good Friends...

Grant, our good friend we met while living in Savannah came for a visit this weekend. He's now in Kansas City and it was great to see him. We toured Turner Field, ate at the Varsity, went to a museum, went to the aquarium, and had a delicious meal on our deck. Here is a picture of Dan and Grant in the Braves dug out during our tour of Turner Field!

Good Food....
Grant shared many meals with us in Savannah and one of his favorite things is this dip that Dan makes, thought we'd share the recipe, it's always a hit.

Sun-dried Tomato Cheese Spread

Prep: 10 min., Bake: 45 min.
Yield
Makes about 3 cups
Ingredients
1 garlic bulb
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 (11-oz.) package goat cheese
1 (8-oz.) package cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes in oil, drained and chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Assorted crackers, breads, radishes, carrots
Preparation
1. Cut off pointed end of garlic; place garlic on a piece of aluminum foil, and drizzle with oil. Fold foil to seal. Place on baking sheet.
2. Bake at 425° for 45 minutes or until cloves are tender. Let cool slightly. Squeeze pulp from garlic cloves; mash.
3. Beat garlic, goat cheese, and next 5 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Serve with assorted crackers, breads, and vegetables.

Good Times.....

Saturday night a group of us went over to Swallow at the Hollow, a local Barbecue restaurant that has live music on Friday and Saturday nights. They get some of the best song writers from Nashville to tell the stories behind songs we hear on the radio every day. Check it out....it was an excellent show. http://www.theswallowatthehollow.com/

Here I am with Melanie and Laura Ashley, good Hyatt friends and fellow UT alumni!

Linder's Touring Atlanta

A fun weekend was had by all when Jimmy, Claudette, Anna Grace, and Charlotte came to town. This is the second annual Linder visit to Atlanta and I think it was as much fun or more than last year's trip!

Here we are Saturday outside of the CNN Center, we did the tour and got to see them telecast live breaking news.

This is a shot of Grandma and her girls inside of the C of CNN!

While at the CNN center, we did some shopping at the Braves Clubhouse Store. We were lucky enough to be there when David Ross, the Braves catcher, was signing autographs. We got in line and asked to take a picture with him. He was most accommodating and we wished him luck for the season.

We got back to the house on Saturday afternoon to get ready for our dinner party. Here is Dan on the grille doing some excellent ribs.

This is the guys picture.

Thanks Jeremiah for a most delicious and pretty lemon cake!

Sunday after a french toast breakfast we took off for Turner Field. In staying loyal to Glavine, we all got a Glavine shirt, what a fun time we had being the "Glavine's" for the day! Let it be noted that Jimmy had on his Glavine shirt though he did not join us at the game, he was with us in spirit!

Love to all, have a good week,

Glavine Released!!!!

I am writting this because Torrey is too upset. She wore all black today as a sign of solidarity with her Tom. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers (and me too.) It will take few days for her to recover.....she is in the first stages of loss.
