Snow Day

So after we calmed down after the epic trip...we took Savannah out in the snow.  She lost one of her mittens at school, and had on my gloves but wanted to touch the snow.  First thing she said was, "my hands are wet, I need a paper towel!".  Oh us Southerners.

Here she is getting a little more into the spirit!

Yesterday...

This is how I spent 12 hours . Dan and I left work and got in our cars at 1240pm and pulled into the driveway at 1246am. Yes. 12 hours. We sincerely appreciate all the love, calls, texts, and good wishes. Many of you will never know how much they meant. We were scared. We were determined. We were lucky. We made it and it's behind us, thankfully.
I certainly don't have the appropriate words to thank the school that had Savannah and Calvin. We got to them about 7. Talk about teacher appreciation. We are home warm tonight and have just tucked both sweet kids in their beds. If you don't have an emergency survival kit in your car...get up now and go make one. You never ever can imagine when you may need it.

With love,
Torrey, Dan, Savannah, and Calvin

Finishing what we started

Shortly after Savannah was born (3 years ago), Mom gave me the idea of collecting a bunch of different S's for Savannah's wall, she saw it somewhere and I loved the idea, so I was all for it.  I began the hunt for S's. After a while I had enough collected but the thought of arranging and hanging them overwhelmed me.  So I let them sit in the closet.  Then I thought about it some more and was really ready to do it, so I moved them to the guest room, then we had guests and they were moved to the floor in my bedroom, then back to the guest room....you get the idea.  Last week Mom and I arranged them on the floor and this weekend, Dan and I hung them in her bedroom.  They are adorable..what took us so long?!

Another silly thing hanging over my head was how I was going to display/store Savannah's hair bow's.  I won't even tell you the silly way we had them.  I saw this a few weeks ago and last weekend we just made it happen and hung it up....another very cute addition to her room and good way to display the bows.

This past August Mom and I enjoyed a lovely night shopping and going to dinner.  We went to West Elm because Mom always likes looking around there.  We saw this picture on the wall and I was ready to buy it for the kitchen window.  Turns out when I went to buy it, it's not for sale.  You have to buy the dish towel and the frame then just frame the dish towel.  Frame the dish towel?  For real?  I can't frame a dish towel.  I just had visions in my head of this being a fail.  But I bought the dish towel and the frame.  And I got them home and  put them in a bag.  And the bag sat in the dining room, then moved to a closet, and to the guest room, and back to the closet...is this sounding familiar?  Two weeks ago I just did it.  It took me all of 15 minutes and I love it.  Why why why did I wait so long?!

This project seen below was only waiting for 1 week to be done...do you believe it.  Yes, really.  I wanted a way to organize necklaces and saw this.  Dan went out and bought the towel rack and shower curtain hooks.....hung it up and voila!  This is awesome!

So this may be the year we finish all the little things we start!

These two...

Have done great getting into the routine of me going back to work. We are lucky Calvin has two sweet ladies taking care of him and he's adjusting well. Savannah is back to school 5 days a week and is coming home with fun stories about her day. Thanks for all of the well wishes as we transitioned!

Ending 2013 and starting 2014

2013 ended with Savannah going to her friend Libby's birthday party.  Libby is in Savannah's dance class and Savannah was thrilled to be going to a party at her ballet school.  She continues to love ballet and frequently is putting on shows around the house then telling us to clap for her!

We spent New Year's Eve with the Crine family, and had a lot of laughs.  Here are Dan and Billy...Cheers!

Savannah and Evangeline enjoy a New Year's meal of chicken nuggets...

New Year's Day started with the Gamecocks in a bowl game.  Calvin and Daddy spent some time talking football!.  Go Gamecocks!

Here is Calvin with his "serious socks" as we call this look...

Life with the Linder's is rarely very serious, look at this clown!

Love to all and the best for 2014,
