“You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses”

The life of two hotel managers caught up to us this week as we have not had a day off since last weekend. Dan's hotel was full of Hair Stylists while I was in the midst of 3,000 High School FBLA students, an Indian Wedding, and the Tango Festival!

This afternoon Dan transplanted my Grandmother's Rose bushes to our back yard. We have the perfect place (we think!) and I'm excited to read and learn more about growing roses. Grandma's were gorgeous and I can only hope mine are as pretty and smell as good as hers.

Basketball games and a Baby Shower

Our weekend started with a fun Friday night enjoying happy hour and basketball. Dan and I always fill out a bracket and I will hesitantly report that he's winning right now but nobody is out of the game yet! All of our family team's have lost except Mom's Alma mater Syracuse....GO ORANGEMEN! Below are our friends Kelly and Melanie enjoying the games.

On Saturday afternoon we drove up to Chattanooga for a baby shower in honor of Sarah and Mike Thomas. It was great to see them and spend time with their family. Below is Sarah and Mike by the pretty pink cake. We can't wait to meet baby Evie!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Being that Dan and I met in Savannah, the city that hosts the 2nd largest celebration, we love St. Patrick's day! We both have a lot of fun and crazy memories working and partying through this day. We were touched when we heard Father Patrick O'Brien was named Grand Marshall of this years St. Patrick's Day parade. Father O'Brien became a dear friend to us after we became engaged and we were blessed to have him marry us. Below is a picture from the paper with Father O'Brien laying a wreath on the Celtic cross. May the luck of the Irish be with you all.

Dan's birthday celebration

What a great time we had yesterday celebrating Dan's birthday. Having his parents around has been a lot of fun. Although it was cold and rainy, we went yesterday morning to the King Center and saw a neat exhibit on MLK and his grave site. Yesterday afternoon Claudette and I went shopping while Jimmy and Dan went to Lowe's. After a nice nap and a UT win over Alabama, it was time to open presents. Here is Dan with his shovel and Home Depot gift card from Pat, he's ready to play in the dirt this spring!

I also surprised Dan with Bruce Springsteen tickets, he was not expecting it but was excited, here he is with the tickets.

The celebration was topped off with a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant in Roswell. The chef got word in was Dan's birthday and sent out the most incredible dessert platter, we had such a fun time. Here is the guest of honor with his parents. Happy Birthday Dan.

Birthday Weekend!

Big celebration for Dan this weekend with his parents coming for a visit, they should be here anytime now and we are excited to see them. We're going to the Atlanta History Center, The Martin Luther King Jr. Center and I'm sure in between that we'll enjoy some great food.
